Foals 2009

The 2009 Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm Foals have arrived

The three foals that we were anticipating here at Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm have arrived.  Mares and foals are all doing fine and enjoying the grassy fields.

First was Sleipnir Hiwassee, a black filly born on Spring Break from school.  She is by Sleipnir Sequoyah, our Black stallion, out of NEJ Golddust Emma, the Jones’ Black mare.

Hiwassee is a river in our local east Tennessee area.  It is very popular as a tourist attraction.  Hiwassee’, a Cherokee word, translates to ‘meadow’ in English.  We call her both Hiwassee and Meadow.  Either way, she has her mother’s wonderfully sweet temperament.  She is a real people horse, and especially loves to be with our eight year old grandson, Tre, who is just her size.

Emma, a tall mare, who is on lease to us as a broodmare, will probably be bred back to Sleipnir Sequoyah, for another Black foal. Emma has had four foals for us: 2 Blacks and 2 Bays : 2 mares and 2 colts.  She is on the List of ON FARM for Lease Mares who can be bred by contract.  Hiwassee is for sale someone has to be and can be reserved by Deposit.  Emma’'s 2010 foal can also be reserved by Deposit.  Emma'’s 2006 foal, Sleipnir Fieldstone, is also here on the farm.  He is a handsome bay gelding & was quite popular at our Open Barn Event last Fall.

While Meadow is still young, based on her temperament, and that of her parents and siblings, we can reasonably claim that this young lady could be a show star and/or someone’s best friend on the trail. She is leggy, loves to run, and comes right up to visitors.

Next to be born was Sleipnir Echo’s Celebrity.  ‘Bree’, as she is nicknamed, is by Sleipnir Echo’s Finale x Playday Rebecca, a lovely Brown/Dark Chestnut mare on lease from the Smiths’ of Triagn Farm.

Bree, the first of Echo’s foals, was going to be probably named Echo’s Premiere.  However, she was born on the birthday of our fabulous chestnut gelding, Sleipnir Selebrity, who died this year at age 27.  So, she just had to be named after “Seppy”, who was dearly loved by all who knew him.

Bree is a gorgeous leggy chestnut with cute white markings.  While she, like Hiwassee, could do anything she set her mind to, her temperament, conformation, bloodlines, and talent all lead us to believe that she is all Class A, Grand National caliber show horse! IF she is sold, it will ONLY be to a show horse home that will value her and foster her talents.

Last, but certainly by no means least, is an even more leggy Black, adorable coltSleipnir Smoky Mountain, also by Sleipnir Sequoyah x NEJ Golddust Alice, the Jones’ tall chestnut mare who is on broodmare lease, but FOR SALE with or without Smoky, and/or a breeding to one of our stallions.

Smoky was taking so long that we were beginning to wonder what was keeping him. But he slipped out slick as can be while our eldest daughter, Elizabeth, was feeding one morning.

Smoky’s sister, Sleipnir Onyx, also Black, was sold to a farm in Georgia to be a parade horse and broodmare.  She had excellent conformation, tall, refined and elegant.  Smoky seems to be following in his sister’s hoofsteps.  Alice, his dam, is very tall and elegant an ideal mount for a man or a woman.  Smoky has the sweet temperament of most of May’s Sweetie’s line (his grand-dam) and the potential for definite size.

Smoky and Alice are both available For Sale, individually or in a package.  Smoky, like Hiwassee, has the capabilities of a full-range from the show ring to the trail.  His bloodlines and conformation make him adaptable to the breeding shed as a stallion or as a companion on many types of adventures as a gelding.

There are three more foals due by Sleipnir Morgan Horse Farm stallions for off farm mares.  We’ll keep you posted on the foal watch for them.  Two are by Sleipnir Echo’s Finale, our chestnut stud; and one is by Sleipnir Sequoyah, our Black stallion.

Come visit the foals playing in the fields.  They are already a favorite sight for customers of the organic greenhouse and antique shop on the farm.

Artists and photographers are welcome to come while the plants are in bloom and before the foals starting really shedding out.

We are open for business Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am until 4:00 pm and by appointment other times.

If you can'’t visit, watch for our ever changing photos of the foals here on the website, and at their photo galleries on:www.ImagesnMemories.com
